CommunityGiving Receives National Recognition

St. Cloud, Minn. – CommunityGiving is pleased to announce that they have recently received reaccreditation with the National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations®, the nation’s highest standard for philanthropic excellence. National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations® establish legal, ethical, and effective practices for community foundations everywhere. CommunityGiving and its partner foundations have been accredited with the National Standards of U.S. Community Foundations® since 2006.

Holly Witt Named Executive Director of the Alexandria Area Community Foundation

Alexandria, Minn. – The Board of Directors of the Alexandria Area Community Foundation (AACF) and CommunityGiving are pleased to announce the hiring of Holly Witt as the Executive Director of the Alexandria Area Community Foundation.

Local Programming Awarded Over $58,000 from Alexandria Area Community Foundation

Alexandria, Minn. – The Alexandria Area Community Foundation (AACF) announced today that $58,500 has been awarded to local programs through their two most recent grant rounds. The Alexandria Area "Difference Maker" grant round awarded $45,000 to two organizations. The Ruth McDonald grant round awarded $13,500 to two organizations.

In the Glow of Gratitude: Willmar Area Community Foundation's Award in Philanthropy Celebration

Willmar, Minn. - The Willmar Area Community Foundation (WACF) invites you to join in on basking in the glow of gratitude at their Awards in Philanthropy Celebration on Thursday, October 10th, at 5:30pm at the Willmar Conference Center. This year WACF shines light on Roger and Ruth Gauquie with the 2019 Award in Philanthropy for their inspiring generosity and volunteerism which continues to help strengthen our community and create opportunity for the Willmar area. The 2019 Community Builder will be presented to West Central Sanitation for engaging employees with community building and stewarding principles that helps support each Kandiyohi County community and beyond. Lastly, the spotlight hits Dorothy Brown with the Marv Otto Award for her legacy estate gift that has now become the largest Willmar Civic Scholarship Association and WACF scholarship available for Willmar High School seniors pursuing an elementary education major.

Four New Members Elected to AACF Board of Directors

Alexandria, Minn. –The Alexandria Area Community Foundation (AACF) announced today the election of four new members to the AACF Board of Directors. Mary Jane Reif, Nick Heydt, Derek Holt and Linda Akenson have all been elected to serve an initial three year term.

Willmar Area Women’s Fund Exceeds Fundraising Goal

Willmar, Minn. – The Willmar Area Women’s Fund (WAWF), an initiative of the Willmar Area Community Foundation (WACF), announces it has exceeded its fundraising goal to help the efforts to deter sexual exploitation and trafficking in Kandiyohi County. Through generous community donations and the efforts of 37 campaigners, the Fund exceeded its goal of $50,000 and raised a total of $70,741. This annual campaign began on June 10, 2019, and the final total was revealed at the Caring for Women Campaign Luncheon on September 26, 2019.

Central Minnesota Special Needs Grant Round Accepting Applications

St. Cloud, Minn. – The Central Minnesota Community Foundation (CMCF) announced today the Central Minnesota Special Needs Fund is now accepting grant applications. This is a new grant round for CMCF. The Central Minnesota Special Needs grants will support programming that serves those with complex intellectual and physical disabilities. Application deadline for this grant round is October 28, 2019.

New London-Spicer Area Fund Grant Round Open

New London & Spicer, MN – The New London-Spicer Area Fund (NLSAF) has announced the annual opening of their grant round. The NLSAF seeks to fund programs that fit within the categories of arts, healthy communities and lifestyles, environment and large-scale and sustainable initiatives. Eligible organizations must be a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, school or government entity who serves the 12 northern townships of Kandiyohi County. The deadline for grant applications is November 1st. Central Minnesota Community Foundation Announces Philanthropy Award Recipients

St. Cloud, Minn. – The Central Minnesota Community Foundation (CMCF) is pleased to announce the recipients of this year's Awards in Philanthropy. Tim Wensman and Janet Fischels-Wensman will be receiving the Alex Didier Award in Philanthropy; Lori Greenway will be receiving the Professional Award in Philanthropy; GREAT Theatre will be receiving the Community Builder Award; and Bernie Perryman will be receiving the ATHENA Award.

CommunityGiving Approves New Board Members for 2019-2020

St. Cloud, Minn.— CommunityGiving announced today the election of two new members to their board of directors. The two new members are Laura Helmer and Steve Laraway. Laura is active on a number of non-profit boards including serving as the President of the League of Women Voters of Minnesota, board chair for Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative and is the current vice chair of the Community Foundation for Carver County which is the newest partner foundation of CommunityGiving. Steve Laraway is the President and CEO of Laraway Financial Advisors Inc. and is past board chair of the Central Minnesota Community Foundation. He is active in the St. Cloud community serving on the boards of the CentraCare Health System and the Boys Scouts of America Central Minnesota Council. Steve is also on the St. Cloud City Council serving as council member for Ward 2.
