The Willmar Area Community Foundation congratulates Rice Care Center on its grand opening. The center completed a $6 million expansion this fall. The Willmar Area Community Foundation provided $200,000 to support the project, earning the naming rights for the kitchen facilities that serve meals each day for all of the residents.

“We are pleased to be able to help springboard this project forward with this investment, due in part to the generosity of Alice Cox, who left a significant estate gift to the Community Foundation,” said Sara Carlson, WACF executive director.

Alice, who died in 2012, was a friend to Rice Hospital during her lifetime.

Rice Care Center is a skilled nursing facility located in a park-like neighborhood on the west edge of Willmar, Minnesota. It is owned by Rice Memorial Hospital and provides a range of rehabilitation therapies to bridge the transition from hospital to home, or to provide traditional long-term residential care.
